Today, intolerance rules the day -- and yes it is sullied further by physical hurt on persons who think, behave, believe and are habituated differently. Intolerance exists at multiple levels.
One finds a vegetarian who will try every trick in the book to convince others to give up meat, ranging from the fear of god to the fear of death to threatening apocalypse.
The beef episodes are extreme manifestations of a pervasive and virulent intolerance that has become a global menace. Communal violence is just another manifestation of intolerance. It does not seem to matter what you have intolerance for it is good enough to be intolerant; that keeps you in the swing of things.
As a keen observer of social currents, I cannot help but think that there is a deep rooted dissatisfaction in the human race. There is angst. The wounds go too deep. The intricate threads of discord are far too deeply intertwined to be sorted. History of human society impacts society today.
Unfortunately, I see no end to this turbulence. If it won't be one issue, it will be another. Why do humans know no peace? What has failed along the line?
