Red is woman to me -- all woman -- feminine, seductive, passionate, breathtakingly beautiful! I love red. A blood red sari -- what does it do for me? it makes me feel superlative in every way. Add some sequins or jamdani on it, and i am the belle of the ball! Chiffon, cotton or silk, a blood red sari is a blood red sari and nothing can take away from its brilliance, its glamour! The only thing that looks good on red is more Red!
Red lipstick... Wow! It comes in myriad shades -- pillar-box red, passion red, crimson, rust red and they all look fantastic! But you know something? A red lipstick needs personality. You've got to be at least in your 30s to start with and you've got to be confident. A very young woman would look stupid and rather tarty, partly because of the very vacant look she wears on her face; and definitely due to lack of class! You need a maturity, boldness, to be in your face; and you can be beautiful, sexy, or intimidating -- whatever you want to project yourself as! Red suits all skin tones, light to dusky, red metamorphoses!
An Indian bride should wear red. I wore a red lehenga and I have never felt more special, more wanted, more loved. A blood red maang coupled with rust red henna all over the arms is so appealing! If you're not a bride a rust red hennaed circle on the back of your hand looks so... so... beautifully Indian as only Indian can be! What is it with modern brides who reject red and go for pastels and cooler shades? In ancient Indian texts it has been stipulated that a bride wears red and a groom wears white, as red symbolizes a woman's fertlity, and white a man's. It is very relevant when you think about it; and sad that young people either discard these notions, or are in complete ignorance of it. What about Srishti? Creation? Propagation?
Spain! Red reminds me of Spain! The gore at a bull-fight, a senorita's flamenco gown, the clicket clack of a tap dancer, a red silk shirt of a senor with a blood red rose in his mouth, waiting for you to pluck it with yours! La Tomatina! This is the imagery of Red.
A rare red sunset can make you believe in Heaven, a red Flame of the Forest can make you savour high summer in May, a Red Velvet Cupcake sets salivary juices flowing.... Heck! A Red can set all your juices flowing!!
